Kick your Spring Fever at the Golden Strand - no shoes, no problem!Dear Children, It’s time to get away from the dark and blustery, and into the bright and captivating! We're preparing to head for the Golden Strand in Kill Devil Hills NC in a few weeks. As you know, this is just the cure for our Spring Fever. We have always liked walking the beach, surf fishing, shopping and just doing nothing. That's why we return to the Golden Strand every year...it has been the perfect vacation spot for our family. I’m glad that you’re starting to enjoy the same beach tradition with your own children. Dad loves to find great surf fishing within a few steps on the beach and Tommy always has great luck on the pier, which is only a mile away. Remember the year that Dad thought he had a HUGE fish on the line, but it was a gigantic horseshoe crab. I hope the blues make a run while we’re there…Yum! Yum! Yum! Maybe the Spanish Mackerel too! Some of our best memories are around the dinner table enjoying the catch of the day. We all know that the local seafood is fresh and readily available, so be prepared to have spectacular dining experiences while you’re here. I plan to fix my famous steamer pot. As you know it’s always fun to search for sea shells and be entertained by the local birds. Jessica still holds the record for the most unique sea shell, and have you seen the beautiful colored glass jewelry she has been flaunting? It’s made from broken buoy glass that washes up on shore, some that was actually found on the Outer Banks beaches. For all the ladies, we're still planning the annual "shop til we drop" at the outlet stores. My treat for lunchJ You’ll just love all of the recent upgrades at the Golden Strand too – new living room sofas, flat screen tvs, replacement windows, sliding doors and new siding on the outside. I don’t know if they have gotten to our unit yet, but it won’t be long. All the family is coming, but we still have room for a few friends. Let’s make some 2013 memories that we’ll treasure forever! Phase One Remodeling-Golden Strand, Kill Devil Hills2013 Progress: 1/28/13 Update - Making good progress even though weather hasn’t been cooperating. That being said, the 4 pictures below show the new paint scheme on the side , note the trim paint hasn’t been done so it looks somewhat incomplete because it is.
December Progress:
11-14-12 Renovations have begun on Building A This is Phase one of a three phase project. Phase one consist of some items already completed like the sewer hook-up, roof repairs/inspection as well as the renovation construction. During Phase one, the ocean fronting areas of A thru J stack will be renovated. The current siding will be removed and replaced with new siding. The sliding doors and windows will be replaced. The interior of the units will be checked around the doors and windows to make sure there is no damage. Also, the exterior of the units will be checked for hidden water damage. Once the work is complete, the ocean side A thru J will be painted. This phase should complete in the spring. Phase 2 will start Nov 2013 and similar work will be done to the ocean facing side of K thru P stack. Phase 3 should start Nov 2014 and will be for the parking lot side of the entire complex. If needed, repave the parking areas. |
